The ingredients needed to cook Sambar:
- Use 2 cups tuvar dal
- Use 2 tbsp tamarind paste
- You need as per taste Salt
- You need 2 tbsp corrainder leaves
- Get 1 tsp turmeric
- Use For Vegetables–
- Use 2 medium sized onion chopped
- Take 2 big drumsticks
- Provide 2 carrot finely chopped
- Get 2 tomatoes finely chopped
- Get 2 tbsp ready made sambar powder
- Provide 2 garlic cloves/ Ginger garlic paste
- Use For tempering–
- Prepare 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- Prepare 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Use 1/2 tsp curry leaves
- Get 2 Dry red chillies
- Prepare Pinch hing
- Get Pinch methi
- Provide 2 tbsp oil
- Prepare 2 tbsp dry chilli powder
- Provide 1 tbsp corrainder powder
- Provide as required Water
Instructions to make Sambar:
- Wash and soak dal for 30 mins. After that add it in pressure cooker adding little chopped onion,1 garlic cloves little chopped tomato pinch turmeric salt and cook upto 3 whistle. It should cooked smooth
- Take a pan or kadai add oil to heat. Once heat add cumin seeds mustard seeds hing curry leaves dry chilli methi. Once fragrant release add chopped onion.once it gets transculent add chopped tomatoes ginger garlic paste and saute. Now add all cut veggies and saute for 2 mins mix everything.add dry masala sambar masala and mix everything add little water
- Mix vegetables and cook for some time. Once it get cooked pour vegetable mix in dal and mix it. Add tamarind paste and little jaggery cover the lid. Add water accordingly as per requirement. Sambar should be little thick. Pour little ghee with a spoon around it.
- Once get cooked garnish with corrainder leaves and serve it in serving bowl
- Note- I have used readymade sambar masala packet. U can make it at home also. I will share recipe in next page.
